Inline Turbidity Probe Model ProScat12


The rod probe model ProScat12 measures the turbidity of liquids in process. The probe is inserted into a pipeline either using a mounting flange or alternatively via a 2” ball valve with pipe radius and weld-on connection piece is used for installation.

Turbidity Measuring:

Turbidity is not a clearly defined quantity such as temperature, weight or pressure it is a subjective impression and therefore turbidity meters are typically calibrated with a reference standard such as formazine

Measuring Principle:

The probe uses the principle of 12° forward scattering to detect turbidity in liquids. Measuring principle forward scattered light. This method is used for turbidity meters providing a measuring range from approx. 0-1ppm up to 0-4000ppm. However, this specification can vary greatly depending on the application and the product to be measured. When measuring scattered light, a distinction is made between forward scattering, sideways scattering (nephelometry) and reflection.

Features of the measuring System:

Low maintenance / long service life:
– Compensation of eventual coatings at the measuring windows.
– Insensitive for Color changes of the measured product.
Calibration / maintenance interval typically 24 months (depending by application):
– As a rule, calibration is required every 24 months
– However, the maintenance interval depends on the measuring range and application.
NIR LED, service life approx. 5 years:
– The high power LED and typically has a service life of around 5 years.
– Alternatively, a gas-filled full spectrum measuring lamp is available with a service life of approx. 1-2 years.
Material typically stainless steel 1.4404
– Wetted parts of the rod probe is typically made of stainless steel.
– Other materials such as titanium, Hastelloy, Peek, carbon fiber-reinforced PTFE, PVDF, etc. are available as alternatives.
Sealing Material: 
– The seals are made of FKM.
– Optionally, seals made of other materials such as EPDM, FFKM or silicone are available on request.
– In basin, open channel or tank using mounting clamps.
– Pipeline installation, porting via 2″ ball valve.
Configurable for measurement of: EBC / TEF/ FTU /ppm /mg/l / g/l / …
– The measuring system can be calibrated in any unit of measurement.
